The course will give students a basic understanding of classical Sociology, help to compare how different types of sociologists have explained human societies and enable students to better understand their part in our society, and to interact effectively.

Sociology has been called ‘the Psychology of Society’: how it works, the roles of its institutions -such as family, government, media, the education, justice and religious systems. We will explore some of the ways people have tried to understand the workings of society and also look at consensus and conflict, change by revolution and by evolution.
